A big, bad bill that we shouldn't support - Marty Bishop

The House of Representatives passed Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” last month by one vote. Now the Senate is considering this bill. Everyone should know what is in this bill. It has huge tax cuts for the rich, which will be partly paid for by making cuts to Medicaid and food stamps. The gap between the extravagantly rich and the rest of us keeps getting larger.

Today I learned what else this bill has in it: Increase ICE’s detention budget by 13x; fund 10,000 new ICE agents; provide bonuses for ICE agents; make ICE the highest-funded law enforcement agency in the federal government.

The only way we can stop this is to convince Republican Senators that it is not in their interest to support this bill. Please ask your friends with Republican Senators to reach out and share their concerns. I am so afraid of the harm this bill will cause.
