Update from the Board: October 2025

Autumn Blessings! It is with a very grateful heart I type this message to all of you.

Your Board has been very busy in the last few months. Since our last update in early August, we have met 4 times for regular meetings, plus a few extra for Personnel and Ministerial Search, and participated in a retreat led by Reverend Carol McKinley. At the retreat we discussed the role of the Board, KUUF By-Laws, conflict navigation, and last but not least, shared ministry.

Thank you to all who showed up and voted at the Congregational meeting to vote on the heat pump HVAC expenditure. And another thank you to all who completed the Ministerial Search Survey. Your input is highly valued and guided us in the formation of a Ministerial Search Committee. As I write this one position remains vacant, so stay tuned for further announcements on that front.

Topics for our meetings included balancing the need for focused strategic visioning while moving forward with the Ministerial job posting and search process, sanctuary rentals, potential ICE Agent interaction, and the revival of an Aging Support Group.

You may have questions on your mind. The next live, in-person conversation with the Board (can I call it a forUUm?) will take place after the service on November 23. You can also send us an email anytime through Tanesha.

Regular Board meetings take place monthly on the 3rd Tuesday evening. Voting members can attend as observers.

Yours in service,

Ruth Powers-Piccone
