Zr. Alex Kapitan presents Radical Welcome

  • Kitsap Unitarian Universal Fellowship 4418 Perry Avenue Northeast Bremerton, WA, 98310 United States (map)

In these times, we deeply need faith communities dedicated to love and justice and compelled to live out radical welcome as a spiritual practice. In this service guest preacher Zr. Alex Kapitan, creator of "Responding to the Anti-Trans Movement," which a number of us engaged with last year, will share how radical welcome isn’t about simply opening our doors or being friendly, it’s about creating spaces where each of us can bring our full selves forward, see our truths reflected, and be transformed by our relationships with one another.

Zr. Alex Kapitan (ze/per) is a community minister, educator, editor, consultant, and activist. A trans and queer lifelong Unitarian Universalist, Alex does interfaith LGBTQ work and supports congregations in becoming places of radical welcome for all. Ze is the co-founder of the Transforming Hearts Collective, the co-leader of the program Trans Inclusion in Congregations, and the founder of Radical Copyeditor, an anti-oppressive language project. Alex lives in western Massachusetts with per partner and a menagerie of furry and feathered friends.
