Did you know that styrofoam and mattresses can be recycled? Keep these things out of the landfill by bringing them to the Styrofoam and Mattress Recycling Round-Up! Kitsap County Public Works is hosting a styrofoam and mattress recycling round-up at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds on April 15 from 11am - 3pm. Styrofoam drop-off is free, mattresses and box springs are $10 each. DTG Recycle collects and disassembles mattresses by hand and sorts the components for recycling. Mattress foam is used to make carpet padding, wood becomes hog fuel, and metal becomes a variety of new products. Styrofoam is densified into blocks that are sold into global recycling markets. The material most often becomes picture frames. For more information see https://spf.kitsapgov.com/pw/Pages/publicdisposalevents.aspx
