KUUF is a "Welcoming Congregation"
For Unitarian Universalists, being a "Welcoming Congregation" means more than our commitment to be open and friendly to all who enter our doors. A UUA designated Welcoming Congregation has made a specific commitment to actively reach out to include people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered.
Our congregation entered a two-year process of discernment around issues of heterosexism and homophobia in 1995, and officially became a Welcoming Congregation in 1997. About twenty percent of our membership is gay and lesbian individuals and
families, and still others are our parents and relatives. We are pleased to see this number growing.

The Unitarian Universalist
Association, of which we are a member, is a leader in the fight for the right of gays and lesbians to marry and to enjoy the same benefits and responsibilities that married heterosexuals
receive.
KUUF's "Welcome!" to GLBT people is extended by all of us, while a few of us make it our particular area of service by being on the
Rainbow Chalice Committee for GLBT Welcome and
Concerns. Members of this Committee not only support the welcome and inclusion of gay, lesbian, bisexual and trangender people in all aspects of Fellowship life, but are also actively involved
with the issues and concerns of GLBT people in society at large.
