Responsibilities & Benefits of Membership

Becoming a member is a commitment to consider carefully. Membership brings with it the responsibility to help our congregation thrive, and to develop yourself as a person of liberal religion.
We encourage you to think of the items on the list below as guidelines for your participation in the life of KUUF. Individual circumstances and inclinations will, of course, determine the degree to which you participate -- but we thought you'd like to know what we desire from our members.

When you become a member, we hope that you will:

  • Attend Sunday services regularly, and be involved in other events in the life of the congregation

  • Develop your spirituality

  • Volunteer by serving on a committee or task group

  • Make a financial pledge

  • Be involved in social outreach and service

  • Connect to the wider UU movement

What do you Gain by Becoming a Member?
You become a voting, decision-making member of an organization which encourages different points of view, and does its best to respect those differences. You are empowered to take part in our congregational democracy.
You gain a community, a place to belong, a place where you and your values and ideas and energy can be put in service to make a difference in the world.
You become part of a 400-year movement for religious freedom -- part of a movement that encourages people to be responsible for their own individual paths toward wholeness.
You gain an identity with people who hold compatible values, who are working to uphold the dignity and worth of every human being, to preserve and protect the earth's environment, and toward a world without terrorism or war.
You contribute significantly to the growth in society of these values, as secured by the continued vitality of the Unitarian Universalist movement over time and lifetimes.
